NROC's Action Items (based on your feedback)

      Hello, Adult Ed advisors!
      It has been so helpful to tap into your expertise over the past several months (at the NROC Member Meeting and COABE) as we prioritize our development efforts in the coming year to better serve adult learners. Here’s a recap of the action items we identified based on your feedback:

      In the short term, we are focusing on EdReady reporting enhancements to support program requirements and on event messaging to improve student engagement.

      Next up, we will be outlining some models for contextualizing EdReady math for high-demand career paths, beginning with health professions.

      Finally, we continue to seek partnerships for a deeper investment in the creation of lower level English curriculum that might also serve ELL’s. There is potential to integrate some technical/business English into such a proposal as well.

      We ask for your continued help by:
      • Sharing any recommendations for open content that may already have been created to bring healthcare applications into the math classroom.
      • Watching for both grant opportunities and open content that might jump-start efforts to create basic literacy curriculum with career relevance.
      • Letting us know if you or colleagues will be attending ProLiteracy in San Diego this September for our next face-to-face convening.

      In the meantime, you can also access additional resources to support classroom instruction here at the site — including the great HippoCampus playlists contributed by Kentucky ABE. Let us know if you have created any instructional resources you’d like to share with other members here.
