Closing the Equity Gap and Opening Doors for First-Generation College Students

Join us for a live conversation with two thought leaders who are inspiring national conversations about promoting first-generation student success. We’ll discuss practices and policies that are accelerating college completion rates and delivering employers a diverse and capable talent pipeline.

Jim Larimore is Chief Officer for the Center for Equity in Learning at ACT, where he leads ACT’s strategy to engage students, families, educators, and communities to promote equity in learning and success. Jim’s team develops programs, research, and partnerships to improve college and career readiness for all students

ACT’s Center for Equity in Learning focuses on closing gaps in equity, opportunity, and achievement for underserved populations and working learners. Through purposeful investments, employee engagement, and thoughtful advocacy efforts, the Center supports innovative partnerships, actionable research, initiatives, campaigns, and programs to further ACT’s mission of helping people achieve education and workplace success.

Carol Carter is a national and international student success author, speaker, and entrepreneur. In 2014, she founded GlobalMindED to bring together leaders in education, government, business, and social enterprise committed to improving access and equity in education, employment, and health.

GlobalMindED helps first-generation and underrepresented college students achieve career success by providing them with professional skills, resources, networks, mentors, experiential learning, and social support via an annual conference, Campus Collaboratives, and campus interventions that make graduates employment ready and capable for promotion pathways.
