Davilla,
Wonderful! This is exactly what our School of Education has asked for. Thanks, and thanks to Suzanne.

Has anyone created an assessment in EdReady to help teacher candidates prepare for the Praxis exam? We have a request from the School of Education at Jacksonville State University for that assessment.
Here is the Praxis URL: https://www.ets.org/praxis/prepare/materials.

Congratulations. You’ve kept pace with all of our requests from JSU, AL and helped make our roll-out as successful as it has been. Thanks for the vision to launch EdReady and the awesome support.

Beth, I’ll check this out. Student results from our Fall 2014 experience with EdReady indicated that students had lots of trouble with word problems, the bane of algebra. Thanks for bringing this resource to us and posting your description.

Scott Beckett replied to the topic Can Students ‘Game the System’ in EdReady? in the forum EdReady 5 years, 1 month ago
Why would students <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>want</span> to game the system? Unless we answer that question, we may not only design interventions that have unintended consequences, they may also be ineffective. Students are growing up in schools, and a country, that reifies passing “the test” as the Holy Grail of learning. I do…[Read more]

Randi, I teach developmental algebra to mostly freshmen at a 4-year university – Jacksonville State U in Alabama. Although I LUV EdReady and the intent with which it was created (to offer under-prepared students an inexpensive way to fill gaps in their understanding and shorten their path to a degree), our graduate assistants and I provide a…[Read more]

Randi, thanks for your observations and potential fixes. I know that NROC has prioritized developing and deploying more questions, and this is part of the solution, but I think your additional suggestions would address the issue in a different way.
I recently encountered a different way to “game the system,” but it didn’t involve students just…[Read more]

Great question, Terri! Two answers at JSU, where our Basic and Intermediate Algebra Skills courses are equivalent to the NROC DevMath sequence and the CCSS for Algebra I and Algebra II. The courses are taught in two different departments , and until recently, that has resulted in a lack of coordination in both the learning objectives of the t…[Read more]

Beth, I’m going to enjoy watching these myself! I think they may be useful for our Psychology grad assistants as they prepare their short, “highlights” reminder of the NROC Presentation and Worked Examples videos that students have watched. And, of course, we’ll make them available for the students also.
